Operating Systems Platforms for Real-Time Embedded Applications

Chair

Lei Yang, George Mason University, U.S.A

With the increased processing power and functionality over the years, embedded systems have become increasingly complex, and a wide range of high-performance multicore embedded systems have been deployed. However, as the ability of these embedded systems to meet the requirements of emerging applications increasingly becomes dependent on the effective interaction of cores, an efficient operating system infrastructure is needed to ensure the functionality required to fulfill such requirements is provided. The topics of interest of the track include, but are not limited to:

  • Real-time operating systems
  • Middleware
  • System utilities and case studies
  • Tools, Compilers, and Benchmarks for Embedded Systems
  • Scheduling Design and Analysis
  • Hypervisors and Middlewares
  • Virtualization and Timing Isolation
  • Mixed-Criticality Design & Assurance
  • Real-Time Networks and Communication Protocols
  • Power/Energy/Thermal-aware Algorithms
  • Modeling and/or Formal Methods
